SilverClay is the trading name of Metal Clay Ltd. SilverClay is an official Art Clay and BronzClay UK Distributor with direct links to the manufacturer.
SilverClay is an official importer and UK distributor of Art Clay and BronzClay. Our direct link with the manufacturers ensures we're always up-to-date on what's happening in the metal clay world. SilverClay has one of the largest metal clay online shops in the UK, and supplies everything you need for Art Clay, metal clay and basic jewellery making. We have many re-sellers around the country, if you're looking for a local course provider, please get in touch and we'll try to help.
The person behind SilverClay is Petra Cameron Wennberg. Petra is originally from the west coast in Sweden, but has been living in England since 1998.
Petra has been designing and making jewellery for several years, and finally left full time employment to focus completely on the jewellery and Art Clay in 2003. Petra set up SilverClay in 2003, which has since grown to become a comprehensive metal clay information centre. In 2004 Petra completed her Art Clay Senior Certification, as one of the first to receive this certification in the UK. Since then Petra has trained new Art Clay instructors, and has worked hard at introducing metal clay to a wider audience.
Petra was one of the first Aida certified Art Clay Senior Instructors in the UK, trained directly by a Master Instructor from Aida in Japan. She is also a Certified PMC Artisan. She has worked with BronzClay since its launch in the US in July 2008. Petra is passionate about metal clay, and regularly shares her knowledge and experience through this site and the SilverClay newsletter, and through her role as part of Art Clay Guild UK Steering Committee, as well as courses in her studio and around the UK. She also organised the very succesful Art Clay World EU Conference at West Dean College in September 2008 - the largest metal clay event to take place in Europe.
"I hope you enjoy using this site as much as I did creating it, and that I've been able to share my passion for silver clay with you. It is a beautiful material to work with, which opens up many new possibilities for artists. I choose to use silver clay in the design of my own jewellery as it gives me a freedom to express myself in ways that using traditional jewellery making techniques would have been very time consuming and difficult."
If you've called SilverClay in the last two years, there is a high chance you've already met Lisa Bonfield. Lisa joined SilverClay in 2007 and runs most of the mail order side of the business.
Lisa is an Art Clay Level 1 Certified Instructor, and is working through her Level 2 certification at the moment. She co-teaches larger workshops and runs one-to-one classes, which might suit you better than a workshop if you prefer a more focused way of learning.
In her 'previous life' Lisa taught riding classes which gave her a good foundation in teaching. She is a excellent instructor; careful, commited, and focused. On the rare occassion when Lisa isn't packing or teaching, she will probably be found in a field with her horses and dog.

If you would like to come and pick up your order or visit the studio, please call first to arrange a suitable time.
