SilverClay, 11 December 2007.

Hello everyone!
It seems like Christmas has arrived early here in Dorset. Over the last few days we've been unpacking boxes and boxes of fabulous new stuff - now the office looks like an obstacle course and we can't close the cupboard doors! But, we're in heaven with all these new metal clay toys. Some of them are mentioned below.

I also want to tell you about our lovely classes taking place in March. Author Sherri Haab is travelling to the UK and will hold two fantastic classes at SilverClay - un-missable!

If you want your items delivered before Christmas, please place your order before 11am on the 20th Dec. The Royal Mail has set the 20th as the last day for posting first class parcels.

Take care of yourself and yours. Petra

VISITING TEACHER - SHERRI HAAB!

Sherri Haab is coming to the UK to hold her first class here! Sherri is the author of one of my favourite metal clay books, "Mixed Media Jewelry", a book full of fascinating new ideas of materials to combine with my metal clay obsession!

I'm pleased to announce that SilverClay will be hosting Sherri for two very exciting one-day classes: Mixed Media Bracelet and Image Transfer. There are limited spaces available, and these two classes look like they'll fill up fast. You'll also be able to get Sherri's books (if you don't already own them), for a great price - signed by the author!

Sherri Haab Mixed Media
In the Mixed Media Bracelet class, you'll make your own version of the colourful charm bracelet pictured here, using things like Art Clay silver, UV resin, polymer clay, and beads. You'll leave full of new ideas, inspired, and with a gorgeous bracelet - what a great class!  Class takes place on Sunday, 2 March 2008.

In the Image Transfer class, Sherri will show you all the tricks on how to use the Image Transfer Solution to transfer printed images to silver clay, polymer clay, or other metal surfaces. With the Image Transfer Solution you can easily make your own little charms or pendants with family photos. Or why not a print of your favourite piece of art? Or your toddler's scribbles? Class takes place on Saturday, 1 March 2008.

Read more about the course here. To sign up, please see the course page.

Q - I want to make a silver leaf using Art Clay Paste 650. Do I cover both sides of my leaf with the paste?
A - No, just cover the back of the leaf, where you can feel the texture of the veins. Be careful so the paste doesn't 'spill' over to the front of the leaf. Keep layering the paste until it is about 1mm thick, to ensure a strong wearable leaf. Download the leaf making instructions from our Downloads section for more detailed instructions. Have fun!
