Cool Tools Ultra Clay pick Ultra Clay pick

The Ultra Clay Pick has an extremely fine tip that cuts through clay like a laser. The perfect tool for working with templates. Most needle tools sold for working with metal clay are actually knotting needles made for stringing pearls and other beads on silk or cord. While they are perfect for knotting and some metal clay tasks, they are a poor choice for cutting out clay because they have a thick tip that distorts clay when used as a cutting tool. Well, this is a precision cutting tool. Look at how much smaller the tip is than the pro-needle tool. You'll be amazed and delighted with this simple tool. Tip is case-hardened spring tool steel mounted into a no-roll handle. Overall length of tool is 6".

3M Micron Polishing Papers 3M Polishing Papers

3M Polishing Papers are made from micron sized abrasive particles, slurry coated onto a non-woven synthetic backing. They are soft, cloth-like and paper thin, so wraps smoothly around your piece. You can also wrap the paper around a wooden stick, if you only want to polish the raised surfaces on your piece, for instance, if you have oxidised the piece. The precision micron grading provides a uniform, consistent finish. These are sometimes referred to as Tri-M-Ite papers.

They really give you the most fantastic mirror like finish on metal clay and silver. I mainly keep these for use on the fired silver, as the clay clogs them up too fast. Each sheet is 8 1/2" x 11" or 216x279mm.

The set includes 2 of each of the following sheets: Light Green - 1 Micron, Mint - 2 Micron, Pink - 3 Micron, Blue - 9 Micron, Grey - 15 Micron, and Green - 30 Micron.

    Choose between:
Set of 2 x 6 different grits (12 sheets), or individual sheets:
15 Micron, US Grade 600, Grey, Silicone Carbide
3 Micron, US Grade 4000, Pink, Aluminium Oxide
1 Micron, US Grade 8000, Light Green, Aluminium Oxide

Spectrum Polishing Papers Spectrum Polishing Papers

The screen mesh structure of the Japanese brand Spectrum pro-quality finishing and polishing papers means they don't clog up very fast. You can work with this much longer than with traditional abrasives. It is reversible (yes, you can use both sides!) and washable, enabling faster, more effective finishing and a longer service life.

Their synthetic fiber backing contains carefully graded white aluminum oxide abrasive that can be used wet or dry. Lasts longer than the 3M polishing papers.

They really give you the most fantastic mirror like finish on fired base metal clay like the BRONZclay and COPPRclay, and of course also on silver clay. They are great on unfired clay, as you simply rinse them clean when they clog up with clay dust. Each sheet is 8 1/2" x 11" or 216x279mm.

The set includes 6 sheets, 1 of each of the following sheets:
    Lime - 4000 grit, 3 Micron

    Yellow - 800 grit, 18 Micron
    Blue - 600 grit, 20 Micron

Sand paper Wet and dry abrasive 2000 Full sheet

The traditional wet and dry abrasive paper. Full sheet of 2000 grit, very fine abrasive which can be difficult to get hold of in UK shops. Use dry on the clay, or wet on the fired metal for a high polish. Roughly the size of one A4.
    Mesh Stainless steel mesh

Use the mesh for drying your silver clay pieces. It lifts them up and allows air to circulate round the piece. Great if you are using a hair dryer to dry your piece, keeps your fingers away from the heat! 10x14cm. New lower price!

However, the agate is still highly polished and it will do its job perfectly. For you, who won't judge a tool on its looks...

    OXIDISING AND POLISHING
LOS XL GEL - Longlife patina gel

NEW DESIGN - This is fab, liver of sulfur in a stabilized gel form! It is a convenient, economical, and easy way to use liver of sulfur. The best thing about the XL Patina Gel is that it doesn't degrade in light or air the way the lump form or liquid liver of sulphur does. As you're probably aware, liver of sulfur in chunk form is very unstable and goes dead in a few hours if left uncovered or exposed to light. Not this - the Xl Gel will remain fresh even if you've forgotten to put the lid on.

To test the shelf life of XL Gel, a sample container was left uncovered. After a year a thin skin had formed on the surface. The skin was stirred into the gel, and it was mixed up with water. The aged Patina Gel performed identical to another batch made from fresh Patina Gel. (We still recommend you keep the lid on, in particular to keep the XL Gel clean!)

XL Patina Gel is economical to use. With the clever flip-top dropper, you will only use what you need. No more digging for the "right sized chunk" or wasting pieces that are too large. No more throwing out a whole container because the lid was not on just right. It's always fresh and always ready to use, and just a 1/4 teaspoon of the gel is enough to make 6 oz of strong patina solution. Try using it straight from the container, by brushing it on and then dipping the piece in hot water. Or use it in the traditional way by mixing a little in some hot water.

XL Gel is safe and non-flammable so is safe for international shipping. New design - a clever little bottle, smaller, so easier to pack with your tools, and a clever flip-top lid, with a dropper, making it easy to get just the right amount - without a mess!

PLEASE NOTE - THE PICTURE STILL SHOWS THE LARGER OLD DESIGN IN A POT. 30ml/1oz.

    LOS Liver of Sulphur

Use after firing and polishing to give an oxidised or antique effect to silver. Mix with warm water and dip your piece until you have reach the desired effect, rinse with clean water. Or dab the mixture on with a brush for special effects. Clean the silver with baking soda and hot water before using the LOS.

Mix with tepid water to give a slow reaction, which can give you a lovely rainbow effect. Rinse with cold water as soon you have reached the colour you're after. Tip - a quick way t remove the patina from a metal clay piece if you really don't like it is to simply burn it off with a torch.

Safe and non-toxic. This product is used a bath solution in Japan for treating all sorts of ailments! Convenient size, 6ml.

    Metal polish Silver polish

Use after sanding, with a lint-free soft cloth to give your silver a fantastic shine. Also gives a slight surface protection. Use a small amount worked into your cloth, rub onto your silver (and keep rubbing), then finish by buffing with a clean corner of the cloth. Approx 6ml bottle.
TownTalk Silver Storage Strips Anti-Tarnish Silver Storage Strips

Make sure your fine silver items stay shining bright by storing them with a Silver Storage Strip. The Strips absorb atmospheric pollutants and help keep your silver shining bright at all times.

Silver jewelry tarnishes easily because it undergoes a chemical reaction with sulfur containing substances that are found readily in the air. When this happens, the silver combines with the sulfur to form silver sulfide that is black and darkens your silver jewelry.

For the best results, store your silver with the strips in an enclosed space, and remember to replace the strips as often as possible. Insert into jewellery boxes, pouches, or grip-seal bags.

    36 Strips, each strip is 4cm x 3cm (1.5" x 1.25").

    Pro Polishing Pads Pro-Polishing Pads

Another one of Petra's absolute favourites! These pre-treated two-inch squares are absolutely fantastic for polishing up fired metal clay, and also for quickly removing oxidisation from silver jewellery. The gentle abrasive also gives a great finish on BRONZ and COPPRclay. An excellent size for hand-polishing, pads are tight-bond cellular foam with permanently bonded micro-abrasives.

You can't wash these, and don't get them wet or they'll go really sticky and strange. Use until completely dark grey on both sides (or in Petra's case: when they fall apart), and then throw them away.

Packs of 5. Each pad is 2x2" (51x51mm).

The set includes 12 sheets, 2 of each of the following: Light Green - 1 Micron, Mint - 2 Micron, Pink - 3 Micron, Blue - 9 Micron, Grey - 15 Micron, and Green - 30 Micron.

    Choose between:
    Individual sheets:
15 Micron, US Grade 600, Grey, Silicone Carbide
9 Micron, US Grade 1200, Blue
3 Micron, US Grade 4000, Pink, Aluminium Oxide
2 Micron, US Grade 6000, Mint,
1 Micron, US Grade 8000, Light Green, Aluminium Oxide
Or, a set of 2 x 6 different grits (12 sheets) (SORRY - OUT OF STOCK)

Spectrum Polishing Papers Spectrum Polishing Papers

The screen mesh structure of the Japanese brand Spectrum pro-quality finishing and polishing papers means they don't clog up very fast. You can work with this much longer than with traditional abrasives. It is reversible (yes, you can use both sides!) and washable, enabling faster, more effective finishing and a longer service life.

Their synthetic fiber backing contains carefully graded white aluminum oxide abrasive that can be used wet or dry. Lasts a lot longer than the 3M polishing papers.

    Peach - 3000 grit, 4 Micron
    Light Blue - 2000 grit, 9 Micron
    Pink - 1000 grit, 15 Micron
    Yellow - 800 grit, 18 Micron
    Blue - 600 grit, 20 Micron
